Our sea bream05

What size grades do you offer?

Uniform size grades between 300 g and 2,000 g. We select and grade each batch before dispatch, so that you receive exactly the size you ordered.

What is a tidal pond?

It is an earthen pond beside the Ria, connected to it by channels. Salt water flows in and out naturally with the tide. Our 10 hectares of tidal ponds are in Vale da Lama, inside the Ria de Alvor nature reserve, just a few metres from the sea.

What makes this sea bream different?

Time, space and water from the Ria. Density never exceeds 3 kg per cubic metre, the tidal pond is rich in algae, small molluscs and invertebrates that form part of the fish's diet, and the water is renewed by the tide. The result is firm flesh and a clean flavour.

How is the fish harvested?

By hand, with nets, in the ponds themselves and to the measure of each order. It is a simple practice that preserves the integrity of the fish right up to the last moment.

Can you tell where each fish comes from?

Yes. We have traceability from pond to dispatch, batch by batch, so you always know where the fish you serve comes from.

Visits02

Can I visit the tidal ponds?

Yes. We run guided visits by appointment, for individuals and families and for groups: schools, universities, companies and tour groups. Request your booking.

Where are you?

At Sapal do Vale da Lama, 8600-258 Lagos, on the banks of the Ria de Alvor, between Lagos and Portimão.
