The team
A family business is made of people. Those who raise, harvest, select and deliver: this is the team that looks after the Vale da Lama tidal ponds, every day.
Pescalgarve began with one person and one place. Almost forty years on, it is still a family deciding, at first hand, how work is done on the Ria.
He began raising fish in the Vale da Lama tidal ponds in 1989, drawing on the traditional system of the Ria. The way of working he established then, with time, space and tidal water, is the same today.
He carries on the family’s work and has brought fresh energy to it, without changing what matters. He leads day-to-day production and the research projects in the tidal ponds.

The people behind every day
Every sea bream passes through several pairs of hands before it reaches a kitchen. These are the teams that make that journey.
Looks after the ponds throughout the year, oversees feeding and harvests by hand, with nets, to suit each order.
Selects and grades the fish, packs it at a controlled temperature and prepares each delivery to reach its destination within 24 hours.
